Apple's aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. A parallel use with the final variant of Safari is, as already mentioned at the beginning, possible. Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced in March 2016. If you have not yet installed the preview, but would like to try it out, you can get the version for Monterey or Ventura via the Apple developer website.
The update is available via the software update function in the system settings. These include things like live text for images on the web (Ventura with Apple chip required), new web technologies, web push, support for the passkeys presented by Apple at WWDC, improved web extensions, and more. The preview allows developers and the generally curious to test out the latest and greatest features of Apples browser and provide feedback to the company before. The release bears the number 147 and brings features of macOS Ventura for the first time. The latest version of Safari Technology Preview is an experimental version of Safari for users running a Mac that currently have the beta of macOS Ventura or macOS Monterey installed. It hears the name “Safari Technology Preview” and has been released in a new version. STP was designed as a testbed to evaluate new browser technology that Apple is considering using in future releases of Safari.
